School-Based Oral Health Program / Programa de Salud Bucal Escolar

Dear Parent/Guardian:

A free Oral Health Program will be coming soon to your child's school. This program is available to all students and helps prevent tooth decay. A licensed Missouri dental hygienist will look at your child's teeth and decide which teeth need to be sealed. Those teeth will be coated with a dental sealant. A sealant is a thin plastic coating that keeps food and germs off the chewing surfaces of teeth. Sealants can protect against 85% of chewing surface cavities. Dental sealants are safe, painless, and simple to apply. Dental sealants are approved and recommended by the American Dental Association, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Missouri Office of Dental Health. Your child will not be given any shots, fillings, or x-rays.
